Burr and Burton’s Tuttle Library now has 65 eBooks available free of charge, thanks to Follett Library Resources. According to Librarian Merlyn Miller, most of the titles are classics such as novels by Dickens and Mark Twain, and can be downloaded onto a personal computer through the library’s consortium website www. northshirelibraries.com.
“Follett sent us an e-mail this winter asking if we would like to participate and I thought this was a great opportunity for our community to discover what the eBooks are like,” said Miller.
Anyone interested in checking out an eBook just needs to set up a username and password and have the latest version of Acrobat Reader on their computer. The eBook can also be renewed through the website.
According to Miller, to find out what is available in eBook format, “you go to the basic catalog search page and change the format from ‘any format’ to ‘eBook’ and click on ‘title’ to bring up the entire list of sixty-five books. You can also search a specific book by title and the hits will show the format available with picture icons as well as the word eBook in front of the book's location if we have it available in the eBook format.”
