Burr and Burton Academy Headmaster Chuck Scranton is pleased to announce that Richard Thompson Tucker has joined the school’s Advancement Office as the director of major gifts.
“We are very fortunate to have someone of Rich’s background join our Advancement team,” said Scranton. “He will be an enormous asset as we move forward.”
A graduate of the College of Natural Resources at the University of Massachusetts with a master’s degree in environmental education and natural resource management from the University of Wisconsin, Thompson Tucker was the executive director of Merck Forest and Farmland Center in Rupert, Vermont, from 1993-2000. Most recently he provided fund-raising solutions to nonprofit organizations through his own consulting business, Charitable Solutions, LLC.
Prior to that Thompson Tucker was the executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of Rutland County, where he assisted with their first capital campaign to raise support for the new facility in downtown Rutland. A resident of Dorset, he is a past chair of the Northshire Nonprofit Network, a consortium of local nonprofit organizations.
“I know from experience what a great educational program Burr and Burton provides as both my son Justin and daughter Alyssa are graduates,” said Thompson Tucker. ”I look forward to meeting the many wonderful friends near and far who continue to make Burr and Burton such a dynamic and respected school.”
