Burr and Burton Academy’s Book Drive for Africa Service Learning Project is collecting children’s books and school supplies to send to children in Africa.
New or gently used children’s books and school supplies may be placed in drop boxes located at Burr and Burton in the library, Dorset School, Dorset Congregational Church, First Congregational Church of Manchester, Maple Street School, M.E.M.S., Mark Skinner Library, Northshire Baptist Church, St. Paul’s Church, Winhall Market, and the Zion Episcopal Church.
Monetary donations are also accepted and checks should be made out to Burr and Burton Academy with “Book Drive for Africa” in the memo. Monetary donations will be used to help purchase books and support shipping costs.
A Book Drive for Africa Bake Sale will also be held at Shaw’s Supermarket on Saturday, March 29, from 8:30 – 12:30 a.m. to help raise funds for shipping.
The organization TSiBA will help distribute the books and school supplies to students in South Africa through Burr and Burton English teacher Sunny Wright, who is currently on sabbatical there. If there are more donations after the first shipment at the beginning of April, they will be sent to children in Kenya.
